Play
The harbor. Ten short games.
Short games built around how strong answers are put together, in the app’s Play tab. Practice the shape of a strong answer, even when you can’t talk out loud. Then say it, to make it stick.
How the harbor plays
Your voice
Speak, and the boat sails.
In the voice games, speaking moves the boat and a pause lets it rest. There is no meter: a warm dot, the word Listening, and one line of instruction.
Or your thumbs
Three games play in silence.
Two Boats, Clear Water and The Lighthouse Code need no microphone. For the train, the office, or late at night.
The end of a round
One plain fact, not a tally.
Something like “Both answers went in order.” No points, no score, no leaderboard.
The games
Ten games. One skill each.
Voice
Reach the Dock
Practice finishing on time: talk for 45 to 60 seconds, then stop.
You talk and the boat sails. Pause, and it rests. Stop at the dock.
Voice
Drop Anchor
Practice answering first: the answer in one sentence, then a pause.
Say your answer and the boat sails. Pause, and the anchor drops.
Voice
Let the Bell Ring
Practice letting a point land: one point, then 2 seconds of quiet.
Make your point, then stay quiet while the bell rings out.
Tap, then say it
First Light
Practice opening with the answer.
Tap the opening that answers the question. Then say your own out loud.
Tap, then say it
Load the Cargo
Practice the order of a clear answer: point, reason, example.
Tap the four crates in order, first to last. Then say the answer in that order.
Voice
Three Buoys
Practice giving three reasons, with a pause between each.
Say your first reason. Pause, and the boat rounds the buoy. Then the next.
Tap, then say it
Trim the Sail
Practice spotting the words a sentence doesn’t need.
Tap the words the sentence on the sail does not need. Then say the short version.
Plays in silence
Two Boats
Practice hearing what makes one answer land better than another.
Read one question and two answers. Tap the one that lands better, then tap why.
Plays in silence
Clear Water
Practice swapping work jargon for words anyone would use.
Find the cloudy words and tap the plain ones that mean the same. The water clears.
Plays in silence
The Lighthouse Code
Five quick signals a day on what makes an answer clear.
Tap the best reply to each signal. Five, and the lamp is lit for tonight.
And a bonus tile. From Day 2, Race Your Old Boat puts today’s boat beside the one from your Day 1 answer, on the way to the lighthouse. It is not one of the ten.

Calm by design
How the games are made
No score
Nothing to win, nothing to lose.
No points, no leaderboard, no countdown in the tap games. Paper boats and quiet water, and the only sound is your own voice.
Honest
The games practice the shape. Saying it is the practice.
They are not a replacement for the daily spoken answer, and they make no promise about how you will sound. Most end with you saying the answer out loud.
Private
Nothing from a round leaves your iPhone.
In the voice games your iPhone listens only to move the boat. If a game shows your words back, they stay on the phone and are not saved.
Day 1
This is where we start.
Nothing to get right.
Day 1 is one question and about a minute of your voice. It is a baseline, not a test. Free to start, with no account and no paywall before your first session.
iPhone, iOS 17 or later.
