Terms of Use
These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Justin Creasy, doing business as Sayforth, operating from North Carolina, United States ("Sayforth," "we," "us"), governing your use of the Sayforth iOS app and any related services (together, the "App"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the App.
1. What the App is
Sayforth is a 30-day speaking practice program. You record short spoken practice sessions; the App measures pace, pauses, and related speech patterns on your device and, if you turn on AI coaching, sends the transcript and those measurements (not your audio) through our backend to a third-party AI service (OpenAI) to generate written feedback. You choose whether to turn AI coaching on, and you can turn it off at any time in Settings. You can practice with Sayforth without an account. Your first coached answer needs no sign-in. After that, Sign in with Apple is needed for AI coaching, Coach’s notes, interview practice from a job listing, the referral program, joining a crew, and to buy the Daily coaching plan, because those run on our server. Details of what data is processed and where are in our Privacy Policy, which is part of these Terms.
2. Eligibility and availability
Sayforth is intended for users 13 and older. If you are under the age of majority in your jurisdiction, you may use the App only with the involvement of a parent or guardian who agrees to these Terms on your behalf. Sayforth is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. Sayforth is currently offered in the United States only.
3. Subscriptions and billing
The App offers a free tier and an optional Daily coaching subscription, billed and processed entirely through Apple's App Store. The monthly plan is $9.99 per month. The annual plan is $49.99 per year at the founding price, offered to people who subscribe in the first 90 days after launch, and $59.99 per year after that. There is no weekly subscription option. The price Apple shows you before you confirm is the price you pay.
- Auto-renewal. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the period ends. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, and your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period expires, at the price you agreed to.
- Free AI coaching for 7 days. Neither plan starts with an offer from Apple. Instead, your AI coaching is free for 7 days from your first coached answer, with no subscription and no card. This is part of the free plan, not a subscription, and nothing renews. A friend’s referral code adds 7 more days, 14 in all (section 8). When you subscribe, your Apple ID is charged the price of the plan you chose ($9.99 for the monthly plan, the annual price in effect that day) and the subscription begins its normal renewal cycle.
- Managing and canceling. Manage or cancel your subscription any time in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions → Sayforth, or in the App Store app under your account. Canceling stops future renewals; you keep access to the Daily coaching plan through the end of the period you already paid for.
- Price changes. If we change subscription pricing, Apple will notify you in advance and, per App Store rules, existing subscribers must consent to the new price before it applies to them.
- Founding price. If you subscribe to the annual plan at the founding price of $49.99 a year, you keep that price for as long as your subscription stays active. If you cancel or it lapses, you can resubscribe at $49.99 within 60 days of the day it ended, as Apple provides for a preserved price. After 60 days, the current price ($59.99 a year, or the price then shown in the App Store) applies. The founding price applies only to the annual plan, and it does not change the monthly price.
- Restore Purchases. If you reinstall the App or switch devices, use the Restore Purchases control in Settings to restore an active subscription tied to your Apple ID. Your subscription belongs to your Apple ID. If you sign in with Apple in the App, Sayforth links the purchase to a small account record so Daily coaching follows you. Restore Purchases works whether or not you are signed in.
4. Refunds
All payments are processed by Apple, and all refund requests are handled by Apple under its own policies, not by us. To request a refund, visit reportaproblem.apple.com or use Report a Problem in your purchase history on your device. We're not able to issue refunds directly and don't have visibility into Apple's refund decisions.
5. About the AI-generated feedback
Sayforth's feedback, including the observation, the suggested change, and the exercise shown after a coached answer, and the Coach’s notes written from your recent answers, are generated by an AI system (OpenAI's models when AI coaching is on, and a simpler on-device coach when it is off) based on metrics measured from your speech and is intended to help you practice more effectively. It is not professional coaching, therapy, medical, legal, career, or any other form of professional advice, and shouldn't be treated as a substitute for guidance from a qualified professional. Sayforth never produces an overall score or grade; any number you see (a pace, a pause length, a trend line) is a measurement of that session, not an evaluation of you.
6. What normal use means
The Daily coaching plan has no daily limit for normal use. Most people never come near a limit. If you send more than 150 answers in one day, coaching slows to 1 answer every 20 minutes for the rest of that day, and the App tells you. From the 51st answer in a day, we skip one extra accuracy check on the text of your answer. While coaching is slowed, your answers are still recorded and measured on your device, and nothing you have done is lost. The count starts again each day.
- Other limits. Some features have their own limits, which the App shows when you reach them. Say it again: 2 a day on the free plan, 10 a day on the Daily coaching plan. Interview practice from a job listing: up to 5 listings a day on the Daily coaching plan. During the free coaching week, you can have up to 12 coached answers a day.
- The free plan. Practice every day, measured on your iPhone, with no limit. Your coach is free for your first 7 days, starting with your first coached answer (the first one works before you sign in), and no card is needed. After that, the free plan keeps daily practice and your numbers on every answer, with a short summary and one change written by your iPhone, and the first island of Play (12 levels). The other four islands of Play (144 levels) are part of the Daily coaching plan. The interview practice preview is 1 job listing every 7 days. On both plans you can make up a missed day 2 times a week. More detail is on our Pricing page.
- Personal use. Your subscription is for one person. Don't share an account, resell access, or use scripts or other automated means to send answers.
- Changes. We may adjust these limits to keep the service running well. If a change would noticeably affect normal use, we'll update this section and tell you in the App before it takes effect.
7. Interview practice from a job listing
Interview practice from a job listing lets you paste or share the text of a job listing so the App can write practice questions from it.
- Your permission. You confirm you have the right to use the text you paste. Paste only a public job listing; do not paste confidential or personal information.
- No affiliation. Sayforth is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or in contact with the employer. Company names are shown only as you entered them or as they appear in the listing.
- Practice, not prediction. These are practice questions written from the listing. They are not the employer's questions and do not predict what you will be asked.
- Not employment or career advice. Sayforth helps you practice speaking. It does not give employment, legal or career advice, and it does not evaluate whether a job or employer is real.
- Processing. The listing is sent to our server and our AI provider to read it, after our server removes email addresses, phone numbers and links, and it is not stored on our servers. The listing stays on your device until you delete it. Our Privacy Policy has the details.
- Short quotes. The App shows only short quotes from the listing, for your own practice.
8. Referral program
If you share or use a referral code (“Give a friend a free week”), our Referral Terms also apply. A friend who is new to Sayforth and uses your code gets 7 more days of free AI coaching, 14 in all, with no card. You earn one free month of the Daily coaching plan after that friend’s first paid charge clears, up to 6 free months a year. The Referral Terms cover who can take part, the limits, expiry, and how the program can change or end.
9. Acceptable use
You agree not to: use the App to record anyone without their knowledge and consent; attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract the App's models, prompts, or underlying systems; use automated means to access the App outside of normal use; interfere with the App's operation or other users' access to it; or use the App for any unlawful purpose. In a crew, do not try to identify, harass or pressure other members; crews use generated aliases and preset words only, and you can block, report or leave at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of this section.
10. Your content and our intellectual property
You retain ownership of your recordings and anything you say while using the App. If you turn on AI coaching, you grant us a limited license to process the resulting transcript and metrics solely to generate your feedback and operate the App, as described in our Privacy Policy; we don't use your content to train AI models, and OpenAI does not use API data to train its models, and we never receive your audio. The App itself, including its design, program structure, prompts, and branding, is owned by Sayforth and protected by intellectual property law. You may not copy, modify, or redistribute the App outside of normal personal use.
11. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is." We don't guarantee that using Sayforth will produce any particular outcome in an interview, meeting, presentation, or elsewhere; the illustrative examples shown in the App and on this website describe typical changes, not promises. Speech measurement and AI-generated feedback can be imperfect, and the App may occasionally misjudge or fail to measure a session clearly, in which case it will say so rather than guess.
12. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sayforth is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or $50 if you haven't paid us anything.
13. Termination
You may stop using the App and delete your data at any time, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms. Termination doesn't cancel an active Apple subscription; cancel that separately through your Apple ID as described in section 3.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we'll update the effective date above and, where the change is significant, notify you in the App before it takes effect. Continuing to use the App after a change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms.
15. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. This does not affect any consumer protection rights you have under the law of your own place of residence.
16. Apple's standard licensed application terms
In addition to these Terms, your use of the App is subject to Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which applies by default to apps distributed through the App Store, available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. Where these Terms and Apple's standard EULA conflict on a matter Apple's terms govern (such as license scope), Apple's terms control.
